Internal Combustion Engine

The Cirrus Way of Learning

The Internal Combustion Engine uses the conventional piston type design to produce mechanical work through the combustion inside the cylinder. This type of engine design imposes a significant limitation on the maximum altitude and speed of the aircraft.

This course is designed to prepare the students to be knowledgeable on the different types of ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) used in an aircraft. The student will be able to identify and explain the different designs and components in an Internal Combustion Engine. Most importantly, the students will be able to apply deductive reasoning by understanding each design’s principle of operation.
